I must admit, this contest was sort-of half-baked so I had a little trouble deciding what constituted a complete answer. Lot's of people guessed pieces correctly along the way or got the general idea that our movie was being filmed (though my favorite guess was that I was becoming a bus driver) but after much discussion with various consultants I decided to go with the first complete answer to the 3 part puzzle. I hope you'll forgive me if you disagree with my final decision.
Of course, the real winners here are me and Stephen but the winner of the my little contest is...
Emily W!
It may take a couple of weeks (since I live in the sticks) but you will be the lucky recipient of a Pocket Rocket! If you don't know what that is...look it up!
So here's the full scoop...
Stephen and I wrote an original screenplay called HYSTERIA. It's a romantic comedy set in Victorian England about the young doctor who invented the vibrator as a treatment for women suffering from Hysteria. The project has had a director and producing team for ages but it's been a long, hard road getting financing outside of the studio system and getting actor's attached. But we finally made it.
Maggie Gyllenhaal has signed on to star in the film along with Hugh Dancy as the young doctor, Jonathan Pryce as the older doctor and father of Maggie's character, and Rupert Everett as the young doctor's electricity-loving best friend.
Here are a few links with the news...
I can't link to the original Variety announcement because you have to subscribe to Variety for that.
The film seems to have been nicknamed "The Vibrator Comedy" throughout the press. And can I just tell you how thrilled I am to be known as the writer of "the vibrator comedy?" I love it.
Our family will be heading to LA soon and then on to London for the shoot. And you better believe I'll be blogging throughout the journey!
Thank you to everyone for their excitement and participation! It's fun to finally share this with you guys.
